SuperTab  offers several easy ways to access the contents of any folder in SuperTab.

Configure Menu

The first way to access a folder's contents is via its Configure Menu. Within SuperTab, simply Right-Click (or Control-Left-Click) on any folder to bring its configure menu.

The bottom portion of this menu is dedicated to giving you access to the folder's contents:

Recent Items

The menu first includes a Recent Items section, which lists up to the last 6 items you most recently accessed in the folder.

This makes it very easy to quickly access the items you use frequently.

All Items

Next, the menu lists the initial contents of the folder.

It only lists the initial contents to keep the menu from being too unwieldy for the times you use the menu for things other than accessing the folder's contents.

Fortunately, it it very easy to expand the menu to include the full contents of the folder. Simply:
  • Select the "-- More --" item; or
  • Hover the Mouse over the "-- More --" item for a second; or
  • Scroll your Mouse Wheel or perform a scrolling gesture on you Track Pad
  • Any of these actions will immediately expand the menu with the full contents of the folder.

    Customize Access

New in SuperTab 2.1 is the further ability to customize each folder's Configure Menu:
Now you can customize the Configure Menu as follows:
  • Choose whether or not to include the Recent Items section.

  • Choose whether or not to include a new Automatically Moved Items section.
See the Clutter Free Folders page to learn more.

  • Choose whether or not to include the Contents section.

  • Select the Sort Order, Criteria and Grouping of the Folder's Contents to list them by Name or Date
and to groupthem with Files first, Folders first, or as naturally occurring.
  • Sorting is especially useful if you want, say, to have your Downloads Folder list items by Download Date but want other folders to list items by Name.

To customize a Folder's Configure Menu, simply right-click (or control-click) on it and select "Manage Contents..."

    Nested Contents

In addition to accessing the immediate contents of a folder, you also drill down into any levels of folders simply by highlighting a folder for a brief moment. A sub menu will appear with the contents of that folder's contents. You can repeat this as many times as you need to find the file you're looking for.

    Working with Files

SuperTab lets you do more than just open the files within a folder. You can also hover momentarily on any file and a sub menu will appear for it where you can:
  • Discard the file
  • Show the file in the Finder
  • Share the file via Email
  • Preview the file (if it is an image file)

  • Tab Row

If you work more frequently with the contents of a Folder, you can make the contents even more prominent and accessible by creating a new Folder Contents Tab Row.

First create a new Tab Row and select it to be of type "Folder Contents". Then choose the folder you want from the list of common folders, or click the "Choose Folder..." item to select a different folder:

Once you've selected a folder, its contents are now immediatley available to you right within SuperTab:
Further, each Folder Contents Tab Row now has the ability to customize the sort order of its contents. Simply mouse over the title of the Tab Row. A "Gear" icon will appear to the left of the Tab Row Title. Click this icon to configure the Tab Row:
  • You can specify how to sort the order of the contents: by Name, Size, Creation Date or Modification Date.
  • You can also indicate whether to list the contents with files first, folders first, or as naturally mixed.

  • Clutter Free Folders

In addition to helping you easily access folder contents, SuperTab now also has the ability to automatically manage the contents of any folder, helping to reduce clutter and improve organization.
