    Tab Row Item Decorations

SuperTab has been enhanced with a powerful new feature that allows you to customize the appearance of the items in your Tab Rows.

This lets you give each item its own unique appearance which, in turn, dramatically helps you distinguish between otherwise identically looking items.

To customize -- or decorate -- an item, simply right-click (or control-left-click) on the item to bring up its configure menu. Highlight the "Decorate" menu item and then choose either an image or a tint color from the sub menu.

You can apply an image AND a color if you wish.

This lets you take these otherwise identical items:

And convert them into unique and instantly identifiable items:
    Folder Contents Access

SuperTab now gives you multiple ways to access the contents of any folder in a SuperTab Tab Row.

Simply Right-Click (or Control-Left-Click) on the folder and immediately you can:
  • Open all items in the folder
  • Create a Tab Row populated with the items of the folder
  • Select any recently opened item
  • Select from the folder's initial contents
  • Access the folder's entire contents

  • To access the folder's entire contents you can:
  • Hover on the "-- More --" item and the menu will expand    with the full contents of the folder; or

  • Select the "-- More --" item to open a new menu with the    full contents of the folder.

  • Nested Contents

You also drill down into any levels of folders simply by highlighting a folder for a brief moment. An sub menu will appear with the contents of that folder's contents. You can repeat this as many times as you need to find the file you're looking for.

    Working with Contents

SuperTab lets you do more than just open files within folders. You can also hover momentarily in a folder's Configuration menu on any file and a sub menu will appear for it where you can:
  • Discard the file
  • Show the file in the Finder
  • Share the file via Email
  • Move the file to your Dropbox (if you are running Dropbox)
  • Preview the file (if it is an image file)

With so many ways to access the contents of folders,
SuperTab almost does away with the Finder!
  • Manage Browser Downloads

With this latest release, you can now manage your Browser downloads directly within SuperTab.

    Access Downloads

Whenever your Downloads folder appears in SuperTab, you can right-click (or control-left-click) the folder to bring up its Configure menu, from which you can:
  • Monitor your Active Downloads
  • Access Recently Opened Downloaded Items
  • Share, Save & Discard Downloaded Items
  • Access the full Contents of your Downloads Folder

  • Save Downloads

SuperTab also introduces the notion of a new "Saved Downloads" folder.

You can move all Downloaded Items to this new folder, or just move the individual items you want to save:

If you are working with a Downloaded Application, you can also move it directly to your Applications folder.

    Saved Downloads

To access your Saved Downloads, simply select "Open Saved Downloads Folder..." from the Downloads Folder's Configuration menu.

Or better yet, add the Saved Downloads folder to a SuperTab Tab Row and get instant access to your Saved Downloads right within SuperTab.

    Discard Downloads

SuperTab makes it easy to move unwanted downloaded items to the trash.

    You can discard individual items:
  • Highlight the item and hold down the Shift key
  • Highlight the item and select "Move to Trash..."    from its sub menu

  • You can discard multiple items:
  • Select "Move All Downloaded Items to Trash..."
  • Highlight "Move All Downloaded Items to Trash.."    and select the items to discard based on their age:

  • Custom Tab Row Appearance

SuperTab is happy to now support the Number One, Most Requested feature: Control over the appearance of Tab Rows.
In the SuperTab Settings, there are new controls to customize the look and size of Tab Rows. With these controls you can:
  • Choose the Background Color of Tab Rows
  • Specify the Opacity of Tab Rows, from 25% translucent to fully Opaque
  • Control the size of Tab Rows by indicating the upper and lower size limits of Tab Row Icons
  • Preview your choices directly from within SuperTab's Settings
  • Additionally, you can now control the Persistence of SuperTab's Interface when activated by Command-Tab or Option-Tab. This means you have the option to no longer have to hold down the Command or Option key to keep SuperTab active if you so wish.

    Dropbox Support

SuperTab has added support for Dropbox, giving you instant access to your Dropbox folder and all its contents. Simply create a new Tab Row and select its type to be "Dropbox Contents" and VoilĂ  - you have instant access to your Dropbox folder via mouse or keyboard.

The first Tab Row item is your Dropbox itself, so you can open it immediately should you need.

Next, all the top level items in your Dropbox populate the Tab Row where you can open them, preview them, share them via email, set hot keys for them, and more. You can also drill down into any folder in your Dropbox to quickly access any nested file or subfolder.
Also, just like in the Finder, you can move any file that you have in your other Tab Rows or Meta-Folders (see below) to your Dropbox where you can share them, transfer them, or access them from other computers or the Web.
    Meta-Folders

Meta-Folders are a new way to group any set of files, folders or apps together for easy access within SuperTab -- or for easy access even outside of SuperTab!   But more on that later...

Simply add a Meta-Folder to any Custom Items Tab Row, then click the Meta-Folder and select "Add Items..." from the resulting pop up menu to add whatever items you want. (The items do not move from their location on your hard disk.)

From then on, just click the Meta-Folder to access those items:
You can open the items, drill down into folders, preview images, share files via email and more.

And best yet, each Meta-Folder uses only a single icon in a Custom Items Tab Row. This lets you place many, many more items than before into a single Tab Row without them "overflowing" the Tab Row.
    Instant-er Hot Key Access

You can even access a Meta-Folder's contents without having to activate SuperTab.

Simply use SuperTab to assign a Hot Key to the Meta-Folder and then -- within any app, at any time -- when you press that Hot Key, the Meta-Folder's menu pops up right where the mouse is.

It doesn't get any more instant or easy than that to access your files!

See the Meta-Folders page for full details.
    Email File Sharing

Whether frequently or occassionally, we all need to send files to others via email. Yet for so common a task, it is often very tedious: launch Mail, create a new email, root around in the Finder to find the file to send, then drag it into the email. Whew!

With SuperTab, it can be as easy as a single-click. Just right-click (or control-click) on any file in any Tab Row and select "Share via Email..."

Instantly, SuperTab launches Mail, creates a new email and attaches the file. Presto! You address the email and you're done.

You can also share via email any files that you've added to Meta-Folders.
    Separators

It's funny, but a feature that SuperTab users have commonly asked for is one that does nothing at all...

But that doesn't mean that the feature isn't helpful!

As you work with SuperTab, you may find that you add more and more items to your Custom Items Tab Rows. Files, folders, Meta-Folders, Web Sites, Auto Types, Cubbyholes and more. After a while it can feel a bit cluttered and disorganized.

To address this, you can now add visual Separators to your Custom Items Tab Rows. Separators don't "do" any thing except to exist as a way for you to visually mark sections as you see fit.  You can choose from among 9 different Separator styles -- Choose what works best for you.

Here, "Blue Sphere" Separators delineate different sections:

    International What?!

Ok, so there is something that Separators can do: display the time.

One of your choices of Separators is an analog clock. Select this style and it will display your current time.
Moreover, you can configure each clock separator to display the time of any Time Zone. Yes, we admit it's a little unusual, but this does make SuperTab one of the simplest "International Clocks" -- one that allows you to quickly see what time it is in any city or Time Zone you may be interested in.
    Even More...

There are many, many other new features and fixes in SueprTab. Here are just some secondary new features also bring more power and ease of use to SuperTab:

  • Screen Shot Info Pop-ups:

  • Mousing over Screen Shot Items now pops up a description of the configuration of the Screen Shot so you know exactly what kind of Screen Shot will be taken.
  • Web Site Window or Tab:

  • When configuration a Web Site Item you can specify not on the Browser it should open in, but also if it should open in a new window or a new tab.

  • System Preference Items:

  • You can add any System Preference Pane -- Time Machine, Network, Parental Controls, etc -- to any Custom Items Tab Row for instant access.
  • Execute AppleScripts:

  • SuperTab now lets you execute AppleScripts simply by clicking them. You can also edit them by right-clicking (or control-clicking) and selecting "Open in AppleScript Editor..."

  • PDF Item Icon Images:

  • PDF Items now show their first page as their icons, making it easy to visually identify and distinguish each of your PDF files.
  • Text & PDF File Previews:

  • Text & PDF files will now show you a visual preview of their contents when you mouse over them in SuperTab.
